Play Therapy

Play therapy is a child-focused approach that uses play to help children express emotions, build coping skills, and work through challenges like anxiety, behavioural issues, trauma, and family changes. Guided by our trained therapist, it promotes emotional regulation, self-esteem, and healthy social skills.

Benefits of Play Therapy

  • Emotional Expression – Provides a safe, non-judgmental space for children to explore and express feelings they may not be able to put into words. Through play, they can process emotions like sadness, anger, or fear in a way that feels natural and comfortable.

  • Coping Skills – Helps children learn practical strategies for managing stress, anxiety, frustration, and other challenging emotions. These skills can be carried into everyday situations at home, school, and in social settings.

  • Confidence Building – Encourages self-esteem by allowing children to solve problems, make choices, and explore their creativity in a supportive environment. This sense of mastery and accomplishment strengthens their belief in their own abilities.

  • Improved Communication – Enhances both verbal and nonverbal communication by giving children tools and practice in expressing themselves. This leads to better relationships and more effective interactions with family, teachers, and peers.

  • Resilience Development – Supports emotional growth by helping children process past challenges, adapt to changes, and develop the inner strength to navigate future difficulties with confidence and flexibility.

Grief Therapy

Grief therapy offers compassionate support for children and young adults dealing with loss - whether from the death of a loved one, significant changes, or major life transitions. This therapeutic approach helps our clients understand and process complex grief emotions that they may struggle to express. Through storytelling, art, memory projects, and guided conversations, grief therapy offers a safe space for healing and adjustment.

Benefits of Grief Therapy

  • Emotional Processing: Supports children and teens in exploring grief-related feelings like sadness, anger, confusion, and guilt within a validating environment.

  • Healthy Coping Strategies: Teaches practical tools for managing grief’s impact on mood and behaviour, helping maintain daily routines.

  • Sense of Connection: Helps reduce isolation by encouraging open dialogue and validating the child’s experience of loss.
Meaning Making and Acceptance: Facilitates age-appropriate understanding and gradual acceptance of loss, allowing for a more natural healing process.

  • Resilience and Emotional Growth: Builds strength and hope, enabling young people to honour their loss while continuing to thrive.
