Welcome to New Horizons – a boutique psychology clinic dedicated to supporting children, teens, young adults, and their families. At New Horizons, we understand how challenging it can be to watch a young person struggle — whether it’s with learning, behavior, emotional health, or family relationships. We’re here to help. Our team provides personalized, evidence-based assessments and counseling, thoughtfully tailored to each individual’s unique needs. We take a holistic approach, working not just with the client, but in partnership with families, educators, and other care providers when needed. With compassion, clarity, and deep expertise, we aim to uncover root challenges, build resilience, and help young people thrive — at home, at school, and within themselves.
Let’s work together, you are not alone.
Meet Our Team
Susan Henriques
M.A., C. Psych., Registered Psychologist
From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a psychologist. My career began at the Hospital for Sick Children and graduate studies in School and Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Toronto in 2001. With over 24 years of experience in school boards and five years with a family health team, I have addressed a range of learning, emotional, mental health and behavioural challenges. My work has included training and supervising graduate students from UofT. I have also led social-emotional programs in classrooms with a focus on positive psychology for children.
I conduct comprehensive and holistic psychoeducational assessments for people ages 7-21 years to explore a variety of learning and behavioural issues. In addition, my work also involves counselling with with children, youth, parents, and young adults, with a variety of challenges in mental health, behaviour, or social skills. In addition, I also support clients who are on the Autism Spectrum (neurodivergent).
As the founder of New Horizons, I aim to offer personalized assessment and therapy for clients between the ages 7-21 and their parents, setting goals and making plans together. My goal is to create a positive, connected relationship where you and your family feel heard and understood. I have an upbeat yet warm style which tends to spark easy rapport with all my clients. My waitlist is about one month for new assessment or counseling clients.
I am a mom of two young adults and a fur baby! I enjoy hikes with my dog, travel, time with family and friends, and playing my piano.
